Dutch East Indies monument

This monument in Kampen, located in the City park, is dedicated to the victims of the war that my generation tends to forget: the five year war between the Netherlands and the Indonesian rebels striving for their own republic emerging from the Dutch East Indies. It was not the finest moment in Dutch history with quite some atrocities on both sides, and 5000 Dutch soldiers killed (the war took an estimated toll of 150000 Indonesians, but that figure includes victims of internal fighting as well).
